Spotify Comes to USA!

Spotify arrived in America! I might be able to move back now.
“We’ve made it easier to listen, and we’ve made it easier for people to share,” Mr. Ek said. “Hence, people tend to get more into the experience, and they tend to find new music and build larger collections that they want to take with them. And therefore, they also pay more for music.”

If Apple’s iTunes ushered in digital music’s first phase as a large-scale business, then Spotify and other services like it could be its future. Rather than selling individual tracks to be downloaded, subscription services sell monthly access to vast catalogs of music, with whatever songs a listener wants to hear streamed directly to his computer or mobile phone.

Can Björk Make Me Get An iPad?

...from their beginnings, the songs on “Biophilia” had a grand ambition: to unify music, nature (as described by science) and technology.

New Björk!!!

Biophilia” is a possible paradigm for the 21st-century album, one that welcomes the interactivity of the Internet and harnesses the power and flexibility of devices that incorporate video, audio and user control far beyond the play button.

Just downloaded Crystalline.

How's this for a review?

We are finding it difficult to pinpoint the most mind-blowing part about her new single "Crystalline," and the upcoming new album Biophilia that it comes from. Is it that headspinning, left-field breakbeat ending that drops in unexpectedly? Is it the fact that Biophilia doubles as a "suite" of iPad apps featuring interactive features for each song? (Each song has a "game" that the iPad users can use to actually manipulate the song in progress). Is it the fact that there will be an accompanying traveling exhibition showcasing unique instruments? The correct answer to the question, it turns out, is "yes." Everything about Bjork's upcoming project presages the kind of great-leap-forward thinking that leaves everyone else in the dust; "Crystalline" is merely the first taste.
